We are hosting two night racing meets again this spring and we are hoping you will consider bringing your team. Our meets are modeled after the incredibly successful Holmdel Twilight Series and last year we saw a huge increase in participation which made for some great races.
Cherokee Night Racing Meet 1, our Night of 3200s, will be held on Thursday, April 20th. This is an excellent opportunity to get a fast time on the books for your kids. Last year we had 13 heats with 215 athletes. The competition within each heat was tight, resulting in some excellent racing and a slew of personal bests. The meet will be pre-seeded and heat sheets and a time schedule will be sent out to coaches ahead of time.
Cherokee Night Racing 2, which includes a Super Sprint Medley, and 800 and a 1600, will be held on Tuesday, May 30th. This is the week between Sectionals and States. The idea is to give kids that do not make states a last chance to race, and to give those that do make states a good sharpening opportunity. If you have an athlete who qualifies in the 3200, you may want to run him/her in a fast 1600 in preparation for states. Likewise, if he/she qualifies in the 1600, a fast 800 might just be what is needed to prepare for the next round. The Super Sprint Medley provides a last chance for teams to get a qualifying time for the New Balance Outdoor Nationals.
We really hope you will bring your team and join us for these two events! Please let us know if you have any questions.
Best of luck with your season!
